Shaliqua McKnight
As Open City Advocates' first dedicated Reentry Coordinator, Shaliqua helps justice-involved youth successfully transition back into their communities and access the services they need to thrive. Shaliqua comes to Open City Advocates from Better Morning, where she served as an Intensive Care Coordinator for Wraparound Services, conducting strengths-based assessments, developing individualized care plans, and leading Child and Family Team meetings across behavioral health, education, and social service systems. Previously, Shaliqua worked as a Case Manager and Service Coordinator supporting individuals with disabilities, and interned with the DC Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, where she worked directly with youth in detention and supported job readiness and life skills development through the VOLT Program.
Shaliqua received her BA in Criminal Justice from Talladega College. She brings a commitment to trauma-informed, client-centered practice and a passion for collaborating with families, providers, and community partners to reduce barriers and improve outcomes for young people.
